The IT industry continues to thrive, but the pace of its boom is showing signs of slowing down. Despite a decrease in the number of offers and lower salaries affecting mainly junior and mid-level positions, there are certain specializations within the field that promise both stability and attractive compensation.

Cybersecurity - A Priority in the Digital Age

It comes as no surprise that cybersecurity ranks at the top of future-proof IT careers. The rapid advancement of technology and the increasing volume of data being processed demand skilled professionals to safeguard against cyber threats.

"Cybersecurity encompasses a wide range of expertise, from secure software development and testing to analytics, architecture, forensic computing, management, compliance, and even security in AI and OT systems," advises Sylwia Panek-Strzała, Sales Manager at Experis. Despite a slight decrease in average monthly B2B earnings from the previous year, cybersecurity remains a lucrative field, with specialists expecting salaries 12-35% higher than current market offerings.

Data Analysis - The IT Industry's Black Gold

Data is considered the new oil of the IT industry, making data engineers and analysts highly sought after. "The significance of data analysis, especially in light of AI's rapid development, cannot be overstated," says Bolesław Michalski, CEO of GoIT Polska. Employment prospects in data analysis are promising, as businesses across various sectors increasingly rely on data-driven decision-making. Salaries for data specialists have seen a 5-7% increase from 2022, with senior roles earning between 20-25 thousand PLN.

DevOps - The Multifaceted IT Professional

DevOps professionals, who combine software development skills with system administration expertise, are critical in creating efficient work environments and ensuring service continuity. Despite modest year-over-year salary growth, DevOps specialists remain among the highest earners in IT. The demand for DevOps skills is relatively high, making up 7.69% of all job offers posted on Just Join IT in 2023.

Entering the IT industry may be challenging for juniors, with only 5% of job offers targeting those with little to no experience. However, certain specializations, such as software testing, technical support, and roles requiring Python knowledge, offer more accessible entry points for newcomers.

Choosing the right specialization requires consideration of one's previous experiences, skills, and interests. Free, week-long IT marathons and comprehensive training programs are available to help beginners make informed decisions about their career paths in technology.
