How to Prepare for a Job Interview - MyJobsi.com

Some people might tell you that there’s no need to particularly prepare for a job interview.

They can sometimes argue that it robs you of your authenticity and that is the most valuable commodity you can offer. In our humble opinion, this is not true, especially if you are applying for a job in a more corporate or formal environment because those types of employers expect thorough preparation and only that “just right” amount of your personality. So, what should you do during those days before an interview?

Dig for some information

The Internet is a great thing because you can usually find almost everything about any established employer. But, because of this fact, it is also expected from you to come with a lot of information and some ability to use it during the interview. So, read up some facts about the company, the boss, their philosophy, recent activities and so on. Try to memorize some of it so you won’t forget it all when the nerves hit before the interview - job posting site.

Prepare some answers

It is almost a cliché – there are a few questions that will be asked during the interview (almost) for sure. Why do you want to work for us? What can you bring? What are your weak and strong points? Make a list of such questions and practice answering them (but try to look and sound naturally at the same time). You can practice in front of a mirror or with another person who can give you some feedback.

Practical matters

When the day before the interview comes, prepare everything from your clothes and personal things you want to take with to your car, bike etc. You don’t want to be in a rush in the morning because it definitely could affect your mood and your performance in front of your potential employer later. Also, you will definitely look more put together, less nervous and more confident.
