Toronto Fine Art Photographer Opens First Solo Art Photography Show at Carlton Cinema

Local Toronto Photographer Nicky Jameson has opened her first ever Solo Fine Art Photography show at the Carlton Cinema in Toronto. Running throughout June and July, the show features super-realistic art photographs of several  local neighbourhoods in Toronto and London (England).

A prolific Toronto photographer, Nicky is on a mission to explore, communicate and celebrate the emotions that come from our connection with home and place, wherever these happen to be.  Inspired by old buildings and architecture, historic landmarks, urban landscapes, transportation, seasons and spaces - all elements of urban neighbourhoods - Nicky uses light, layers and subtle textures to create moody, expressive, yet realistic imagery to tell the stories of everyday places as seen through her eyes.

“When I create my art I feel the essence and energy of the place or subject. My intention is to express this essence and energy through my fine art photography for the viewer to experience through their own feelings and emotions. At the same time I encourage the viewer to stop and see the seemingly familiar in a different light.“

Nicky’s photography consists primarily of stories and histories of places in London (England) and Toronto, two cities in which she is very much at home. A Londoner, Nicky moved to the Toronto Waterfront a decade ago. The Toronto Waterfront features strongly in her work earning her a place as a finalist winner in the 2014 Toronto Waterfront Photo Contest.

“London and Toronto are a perfect fit for my work, given the strong cultural connections between Canada and the UK and the fact they are both home to me,” says Nicky.

“I am proud to have my first solo Fine Art Photography show at the Carlton Cinema Toronto,” says Nicky. It’s wonderful to see how my artwork resonates with locals and visitors, rekindling their memories, stories and nostalgia as we celebrate this beautiful city.”

I believe we don’t have to travel to exotic locations to find beauty; it is often right before us, waiting to be noticed and heard. As an artist it’s my job is to find, communicate and share that experience and connection with art lovers."
